Wooden Car

Beautiful Custom Built 2009 Wooden Car
Beautiful Custom Built 2009 Wooden Car
This custom wooden car rides on a 1986 Toyota truck frame and gets power from a Chrysler 318 engine. It is driven by an automatic transmission and has merely 1,800 miles on its speedometer. The whole body is made of cedar and its interior is just as over-the-top as the exterior.

I guess you would have to really like wood.......................at least you won't have trouble with bugs, I hear cedar is very offensive to them.

That body shows alot of woodworking talent by the builder.
Just not my cup of tea,IMO its butt ugly.To each his own though.
Save the wood work for the early Chris Craft boats.

Honey,Ill be in the garage putting a coat of pledge on the car...lol

Cedar is way too soft of a wood for that, looks like a design as you go deal.
Real men use Teak and Mahogany when they build wooden cars or boats.
I've done a lot of vintage wood boat repairs.
The fit and finish should be like a piece of fine furniture, not much difference, that car looks like an amateur night birdhouse.

Interesting.

I wonder what type of wood was used in the 40s and 50s station wagons?

Seeing that car makes me remember a friend I had back in college. He could have easily built the body for that car. He was an excellent woodworker / furniture maker. FWIW, he also drove a 1974 Cutlass coupe.
