ID this Olds cable bracket?!!
Hi all,
A friend has been parting out a 79 Trans Am with 403 and has come across some unusual features and sent me pics.
Based on the accessory brackets, sensors/switches and heater tap, it's not an original Firebird Olds. Carb appears to have 80's plugs and harnesses. Still has blue engine covers so I said make sure it is a 403, as likely swapped as whole or all the bolt-ons, and not a 307.
Anyway, one part I'd not noticed before was this throttle cable bracket. Not hanging off the rear of the carb in regular style, also stacked vertically almost from the intake side. No offset in cables either, is this some version of 80's 307 Olds with 200-4R? And not the normal shape? Would the return spring to lifting loop be normal setup for non-AC models?

Any ideas? Thanks

Yeah, that's a 1980s CCC carb from a 307. Can't say that I've ever seen that bracket on an Olds before. The fact that it isn't quite in line with the throttle arm suggests that it was adapted from another source. And what's with that adjustable fitting on the EGR valve blockoff plate?

If you don't need a TV cable hook you can use this throttle bracket. These both mount off the rear Quadrajet bolts.

For a TV cable this one should work:
Summit - TCI GM Overdrive Transmission Components 376700

Thanks. I have both the original 70's throttle cable brackets and the type shown as now have a 200-4R behind my 403. But I wasn't familiar with the type shown, the guy didn't know it wasn't standard either.

I still haven't found anything similar in vertical carb brackets and inline cable mounts. Did all the 307/200-4R models use this type over the years?

I'm also looking at any other GM overdrive models such as the 700-4R, lots of chevs, but so far nothing similar and searching is just an overwhelming collection of new and custom parts, nothing genuine or used, as was the 200-4R search.
