Column Shift Lever

I just purchased a ‘65 F-85 and I’m looking for an automatic column shift lever. (NOS if possible).

Don’t want to bum you out, but don’t pass on a complete column that has the parts you want.

Sellers often have strong ideas about how granular they want to go with selling individual parts.

I just restored a couple of tilt & tele big car columns which share almost nothing with your A-Body column, but I can confirm that they’re very robust and don’t really wear out. The mechanical parts were very well made and the trim can be restored without too many troubles.

I got mine in good shape, but am just not a good painter, so I farmed out the repaint of the trim pieces (semi-gloss black or so) to a local body shop, It will be fun to see what they come back with. I’m sure it will be better than my rattle-can resto effort.

Cheers
Chris

My column shift lever end is like an 8 ball. I found a turn signal lever on eBay for $35 and I wanted to find something that looks just like it.

At least for the 65-66 big cars, I can confirm that the Tilt lever end and Turn Signal lever ends swap.

I’m 99% sure the column shift lever end will _not_ swap with either of the other two. There are 2 points of mismatch I believe:

1) outside diameter of the lever shaft
2) length of the shaft splines.

I can’t comment with any authority whatsoever on the Cutlass/442/VistaCruisers. I just don’t know much about A-bodies…

Yes, I am learning it's pretty hard to find things for the big cars. I just got 2 used original hub caps on ebay. I needed one but got an extra for backup. Any good suppliers that you've used?

I usually buy parts from Original Parts Group but I also buy from Fusick and eBay.

That's all I have used. OPG for generics, Fusick limited, and $ Ebay seems to come through if you're diligent. Swap meet season is coming soon.Fortunately I'm pretty complete (but are you ever?) on my 98 lux. A far cry from all my Chevy experiences with everything readily available.. But now I'm into Olds and now looking for more to buy. How did this happen? lol
