1965 f-85

Hello, this was my Grandfather's car. He sold it a few years ago and I bought it yesterday. It needs some work for sure, but I'm hoping to at least get it road worthy by July. Just tires and a battery for that goal. Most work to be done is hidden rust and painting (the clear coat is almost completely gone).

Interesting car. The hood molding says F85 Deluxe.
Did your grandfather remove the side chrome and give it that paint?
Show us some more pics!

Yeah, I don't have the chrome and I don't think he kept it. He had it painted like that, with the bronze and black, because it was his "lucky color". I'll have to take some more pictures later, but here is what it looked like in it's "younger days", along with another one of the side while we were waiting for the tow truck. I'll get more pictures, fear not!

Welcome aboard.

Great car, great engine. My first was a 67 with the jetfire 330. Sold me on Olds for life. Nice touch with the missing rear door handles. Positively enhances the appearance.

In its younger days it was a show car. My grandpa thought that having no back door handles made it look more classy, I have to say, I agree

100% That tiny difference, improves overall look dramatically.

I see she is still single exhaust ?

Any future thoughts on additional performance ?

All she needs is 3.73s and a 200-4R, once fine tuned. 2 second reduction to 60 and in the 1/4...

Yes Sir, she still has single exhaust. I'm not sure what to do with it yet, to be honest, I haven't ran her long enough to know yet. As long as it works so far, I'll have to look into more stuff later, kind of on a tight budget at the moment. I've been told to watch the carb though, that it leaks sometimes, so I'll have to look into that.

Thumbs up

Very cool.
AC is long gone, interior looks pretty fresh…I’d have fun just cruising that thing.
Take a pic of the data plate on the firewall if you’d like more info on it.
