63 cutlass roto 5 trans issue

anybody know the symptoms of a bad trans damper plate?? fluid and pan was spotless, band adjusted, working fine except a thumping noise ( that can be felt ) under load in 1st and 2nd gear

It certainly is a suspect in such a problem.
It may be worth pulling the trans to inspect it.
If the springs in it are loose, it's bad.
