Dash mark for paint code ( - )

I believe the - signifies a custom color. Like if you wanted 68 camaro "hugger orange" or Toronado "Kashmir copper", instead of cutlass "bittersweet" on your order. Not 100% but I believe that is the case.

Yes, special order or 'extra cost' as the dealer guide describes it. But it has nothing to do with stripes or elimination of stripes. That's in a different section of the build sheet, not the cowl tag.
Code B for 1969 verts lists the ragtop as being Gold.
Most notable of the - - cars is the 1970 Rallye 350. The paint code on them is - - which is a Sebring yellow (code 51 is identified as 'special order/extra cost') I'm sure the list could be extended to other brand colors as well.
