1968 Quadrjet Carb 7028253

I had cleaner # 40 from one of the 54 factory cars. I had #78 and 3 other second design dealer installed cleaners. I forgot I had one of the original 54 factory cars,#29 belonged to me @ one point in time. So that actually means I had 6 of the cleaners at some point. I've had probably 25 + Tri Carb units over the years and I still have 3 of them right now.
The cleaner Memmer had @ Sturbridge was actually a NOS 67 cleaner that belonged to me. I had it @ his spot trying to sell it. That's the year he got flooded out during one hell of a rain storm.

That's incredible what you have and had.
So how many of the 54 do you think are left?

The only parts I have left for a 68/69 is a rally pack and a restored set of convertible quarter moldings. I sold a 68 31 spline 3.91 posi last spring. I'm thinning out the pile, getting old and stuff is too hard to find anymore. Thanks for the interest.

Hey 66-3x2442 I have parted out over 500 cars.ALL cars GM Mopar and AMC all muscle cars. Not just Olds like you!Every part you have, so do other people. What I have they dont.So dont talk about rare parts until YOU can come up with a 253!!!!!!!!!ANYONE.Thats what I thought.

Here's the bottom line with the 253 carb. The 251 was indeed used for the 442 stick cars, and thus also correct. And there is no possible way to prove that 253 carb came on any particular car. So since the 251 is also correct, there is no reason to have the 253 carb to "match" any car no matter how "concourse" you want to be. So there is no reason for anyone to pay big bucks for one.
Sure, a fool with money to burn can always be found, but rare does not mean valuable. At least to anyone in the know.

Did yo momma, daddy and girlfriend help you part out the cars or did you do it all by your little lonesome? What a jerk.

Here's a thought
just an idea....
Maybe sometimes rather than sit on a rare part forever in order to maximize the sale price, sell it to a brother in the hobby who needs it for his machine, at a price that all can be happy with.
Buyer is happy, seller gets something for his item that is otherwise gathering dust, and one more car is assembled nearly correct and not with C-type parts.
Seller gets kudos for helping out rather than just "price tag" fixation.
Win-win.
I am wondering what makes the seeker think that a '8253 carb is correct or required rather than the much, much more common '8251.
Then again, I am pretty sure somebody offers carbs numbered to your liking, so if all the parts, castings, jets, springs, internals, linkages, etc. are correct, and the ONLY difference is whether Joe Bob stamped the # in there in 1967-8 or Jim Bob stamped the number in there in 2013.... to me, they are identical parts. That's a great alternative when you just can't find one, which well describes the '8253. It'll have that "correct number" as mentioned above, when the hood is popped at sale time.

Hopefully my comment did not insult you. I just agree that we are all after a fair deal and ultimately a cool ride. Good luck with your E-bay sale and hopefully it will be a win-win sale.

That looks nice good luck w the sale. What's the reserve set at? I know sometimes people think revealing the reserve is bad juju, but in reality an item will sell for as much as people are willing to pay for it, so if it meets reserve and people still value it higher they will simply keep bidding ! Course if the reserve is to high poeple lose interest and the item doesn't sell.

Also the auction will not determine the true highest value but only the value placed on it by the people who know about the auction. What would be great is if a car with numbers matching for that carb ended up winning the bidding.

What I was trying to say was it would be nice to see it go on a 68 442 stick car IF that was what it was built for. It is desirable to have a car with all the proper parts on it like it came from the factory. I know I would like to own one but likely never will.
#102
Date on the base of 171-8 is around June 20th 1968, very late '68 production. Like last 3-4 weeks probably. The "matching" car would have to be built in month 6 or 7. Others know better than I but I think little or no production was done during August, for that was model changeover time.

1718 would be Wednesday 6/19/68 (leap year) - is that the normal location for a date code on a June '68 carb & nothing under the 7028253 UC?
Is that date stamping on a removable base?
Is that date stamping on a removable base?
#105
I have not seen ALL 1968 carbs, but I have never seen a 702825_ carb with the date on the body near the application number.
Yes, the 171-8 date is indeed on a removable base plate.
OTOH, the application number surface appears to be unmolested, stamped properly, and textured as the rest of the carb body.
Last time seen, never.

I dont know how many times you have used ebay and shipping. But they screw up more than I can take. Its cost me alot of money. As for the carb.I think it speaks for its self. And the reserve price will not be told.Alot of people are going to low ball this carb,to keep the price down.I really dont think thats going to happen in the long run.I have NO problem with putting this carb away again. So are ALL the high rollers waiting till the end?I wouldnt wait so long?Did anybody notice the 8 is up side down on the base plate.Thats what happens when you hand stamp RARE carbs at the factory. Is this 1 of 1 or the ONLY one?

I have just under 2000 on my feedback @ 100%. I dont receive feedback on every transaction and i well guess my real number is closer to 3000. I have been on ebay since 1998.
I sell as much as i buy. So lets just ball park i have sold between 1000-1500 items.
I NEVER have an issue with ebay miscalculating shipping.
Good luck with your sale.

To anyone wanting a correct 7028253 carb, it can be accomplished pretty simply.
Take a 7028251 carb and add 7031972 jets. That's all there is to it.
You can also start with a 7028252 carb, add the jets and the 7037734 power piston spring.
(Thanks to Bill Demmer for confirming this information).
I just paid $56.00 for a nice rebuilt 7028252 carb, so this will cost me about $100 total to do this.
This is going onto my car. The last number "3" may be important to some people, but I can assure you the car won't know the difference.

I am glad you have over 2000 feedbacks.I have a set of 1987 Grand national rims for sale?Ebay put the shipping at 18.00.I didnt put the shipping price.I sold a 1969 Hemi super bee hood.Ebay put that shipping price at 22.00?It was 265.00.So good luck with ebay shipping. As for the number 3?I never said some people could not make a 253?I dont want the guy that wants a 253.I want the guy that NEEDS the 253 for his 442.There is two kinds of people, those with 251s made from specs from a 253.And the people that want nothing to do with a fake 251 made to run like a 253.

That makes no sense lol

Of course not. He doesn't understand it is what is inside that makes any component correct. No number in the world make the insides correct. But he is entitled to be thrilled to death with a number on a casting.
#114
I get it,a 251-252 carb with 253 guts will run like a 253 carb.I know its whats inside the carb. But what really counts is whats on the outside 251,252 or 253?I remember someone saying I dont want to consider any other numbers?I also have emails from members who talk ALOT of crap on this forum, but WAY differant on emails? That would be the last post.If nobody wants to buy this 253 thats GREAT.But please stop the game play!!!And the bull. What I dont understand is if you can make a 253?Then why want one,or talk it down.

How about you help narrow down the time frame that the 7028253 carb would have been used instead of continually boasting about having one. You've never told us how you came upon this carb but from this ebay listing I assume you're probably parting out an original 68 442 4 speed car. What's the build date on the cowl tag?

Please send pics and prices. I have a 7027131 on the car, but it is not running right - even after having it rebuilt. Ready to try again, but want to keep it numbers correct.

In the 1968 "Assembly Manual" I have, in Section 6-0 Page 123 (also stamped with number "183") - it lists the 4bbl carburetor & usage numbers.
(7028250, 7028251, 7028252, 7028253, 7028254)
& the part numbers are noted:
REVISION "H" - 4/29/68 Part NO's Revised (the last revision on the page)
REVISION "E" - 10/4/67 Part NO Added (which is no longer on the print)
Changed "to" or "from" what - I don't know, but there was a change as far as the "Assembly Manual" was concerned in reference to the 4bbl carburetor part numbers. I am aware that "Manual" dates & actual "Production" dates varied.
