Short video of the car running on a Friday test and tune. Still working out the bugs but running around 7.90 1/8 mile (about 12.30 1/4 mile) with old,old,old slicks. New carb this year with new slicks and adjusted rear suspension and I think we will be in the 11's. My 17 year old son was driving on this pass.

WOW!!! I REALLY like that cat a LOT!!! And, yes, the reverse light delete is correct for 1965. I'm unsure if the reverse lights were an option, or standard, and if you got a credit for the deletion. I'm sure somebody here will know---I would think Jasen would know for sure.

Dave, I absolutely know it cost a ton of money to race, and money spits out of the headers every time the motor fires. I still understand about 1.10 under, but I know you can buy used stockers (maybe not 1.10 under) for less dough. I would still like to know more about the history of the car.
My buddy just lost the record in D/S and he's probably got $40k in EACH engine, so I know the costs involved.
Olds' stuff is more than any other parts, so it seems, but I still think $50,000.00 is a lot of money to start running stockers. I know how much Sam Murray paid for his 1972 Cutlass Stocker from my friend Wayne Shipley---had I known it was REALLY for sale, I'd own it. Now, Sam has spent some money and made some changes and has set some records, but he didn't start out at "half-a-hun".
There is no guarantee the Number 1 qualifier will win the race. Not a bad place to start, but as long as your in, you CAN WIN!!!

This is a expensive car to run even if it is running the best stocker factored Olds 455. By the way the car launches and how straight/vertical the front tires are it has one of the best A body stocker suspension on the market for these cars and that does not come cheep.
Light weight turbo 350 $$$. 70 W30 442 $$$. Engine that can run under the index $$$$ Diff$$ Paint$$ fuel system$$ brakes$$ electronics/ignition$$ tries and wheels$$,Roll bar$$ shifter$ gauges$ interior$$drive shaft$
Stockers are not cheep other wise I would have had one a long time ago.
They bleed money, people say boats are bad I think stockers and fast race cars are the same.
I have seen many a stocker engine let go more so than any other sportsman drag class.
Nice looking car from the pictures but you can only tell how nice it rely is in person.

They were $10.71 in the B/C bodies, though. In all cases, the bumpers were stamped with the holes and if it didn't have the option, block off "plates" were used. That F85 has the correct A-body plates.

Points well spoken and taken Bernhard. Stockers are more about the "challenge" than anything else. The guy says he running as a '72---so maybe more $$$$ to make HP with low compression. Most racers haven't a clue what it takes to do a stocker---bracket racers are weekend warriors and many don't "get it" when discussing what is involved in being competitive, let alone qualifying #1 or setting a record in stock class NHRA racing.
Not long ago, I could have bought a '69 Chevelle wagon that was a L-MS/A that ran .5-.7 under----passed on it for $15k. I am just saying that I think you can get in "the game" for less than $50K. If that car was an old Berejik, Ron Garey, Smothers Brothers car then $50k might be deal. I follow Olds nostalgia race cars pretty well because I own one. I'm not knocking anybody's car or their opinion, and if were closer to me (Maryland), I'd probably have a look.

I was looking to run a 307 G body but they are not cheep either its just not the build cost but the dollars it takes to run them. There are Chev engines like the 396 that have a soft factor and that is why so many run that engine. You have old tech cars still running under the index with 80's tech and rules. There was a 68/69 chevelle stocker last year that me and a friend had a good laugh over, how a car could be so out dated and still be running under the index. It was still running a turbo 400 the boat anchor of stocker transmissions 80's suspension and diff tech that is what you call a soft factor. There is no Olds engine that is so favoured so it will cost more to run a Olds stocker and you will have to work harder. I only know a little of what it takes to run one of these car but I do no enough that I don't have the bank roll to build or under take such a venture. You should check out class racer if you have not already the guys are very helpful and can point you in the right direction. The cool thing about these cars and class is there is so much to them that you can not see. Its one of those classes that you never stop learning and you never stop thinking of how to make your car quicker and more consistent with in ever changing rules. It is my favourite class and what brings me to the track every year, right after stock is supper stock in my books.

You are preaching to the choir, my friend. My car (avatar) was run in '69-'71 in F/S and G/S and all my racing buddies want me to run NOW. I don't have the desire to race like I did 30 years ago. I do a little nostalgia stuff, and I have some good friends that run NHRA D/S and B/S---I know what they spend and invest in time, money, brains, etc. I watch them from time-to-time and just scratch my head wondering how they do what they do. It's amazing. My car is right on the cutting edge of technology of 1969 and that is how it's gonna stay. Like I said, I just don't have the desire any more.

Bernhard, first thanks for the great comments. The car in my avatar was raced by the dealership where my family and I have worked for a long, long time. That car today is pretty much as in my avatar pic, and I do a little nostalgia stuff with it. I was testing a new drivetrain in a video if you care to see it (just Google-DAVID SILTMAN NOSTALGIA). I was a kid when that car ran, but did a WHOLE lot of racing starting at age 16, so I'm VERY familiar with NHRA stock class racing. My buddies understand the "fire" isn't blazing anymore, and think it's cool what I do with the "Anderson Olds" car.
PM me anytime and I'll be glad to tell you anything you care to know about my car and it's history. A lot of the people here know, and I don't want to hijack this thread talking about my car----I don't think it really would be fair to the others.
I will say that I have been invited and will be showing the car in the "Solid Lifter Showroom" this year in conjunction with the GM Nationals at Carlisle in June.
And, I agree with you about the "golden age of stock" in the 60s and early 70s.

No, that is not my car but this is!
Picture 1 and 2 taken in spring of 1974 during time trials to dial the car in at Orlando Speed World, Florida at a bracket race which I won after 8 rounds, wow was I tired after that race as it ended at 12:00 midnight! Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think there was like 84 or 86 cars or more.............................
BTW: at this race I went 6 rounds at a 12.20 ET (my dial in was a 12:20), the 7th round I went 12.21 and in the final I went a 12:20. Five rounds I pushed my competition out the back door, make'em break out. Three rounds I just beat'em to the finish line. Ronnie Socks wasn't the only one who knew how to row a 4 speed!!!!!!!
Picture three was taken in early summer of 1973 at Bradenton Dragway, with the new NHRA stocker rules which you could not have headers, had to have a full exhaust, and no drag slicks. These rules were only in effect during 1973 and then in 1974 NHRA went back to the same rules established in 1972. Reason why I went from a 13:00 car to a 12:20 ET in 1974. Good old NHRA screwing with the door slammers!

Those are really cool pics!
Here is a current pic of mine...mostly original paint, and when cleaning it a few weeks ago I noticed some very faint outlines on the rear quarters, and could make out the lettering of Berjik. Also on the roof above the driver door was the faint outlines of gentlemans name and original owner.
I bought this from Glenn Johnson at the end of last summer, and really have only begun doing research on it. It came with copies of the window sticker, and and original invoice thru Berejik.
If anyone has any info on it, please let me know!

I'd like to extend an invite to our 8th annual "Run What Ya Brung" nostalgia drags, car show and swap meet in Reynolds, GA September 14th. It is going to be a blast as usual. Free camping at the track and only $10 to spectate per person with $20 to enter and run as much or as little as you like. Grudge matches are welcomed and you race at your own pace with no set schedule or classes. Please try to put this on your calendar.
