324 and 371 Paint Questions
Has anyone on the board found engine paint that's close to the factory color at one of the local parts places (O'Reilly, Napa, etc.)? I know Fusick sells the proper stuff, but it's a little pricey with shipping and I'm not going for a points build.
Specifically, I'm looking for the gold to match my 371...
And probably green for my 324. Out of curiosity, did the factory ever paint the engines red like this?...
Thanks, Bryan

Nope on the red color(looks like chevy orange/ red) unless maybe a industrial engine.
Take your cleanest valve covers to your local auto paint supply house and they will match it.I have done this many times and the paint + hardener will last many times longer than spray bomb type products. If you don't have a spray gun they can put it up in a spray can but you have a very limited time to use it before it hardens in the can.... Lost in the fifties....Tedd
