swapping motors

Depends. How are you with welding and fabricating?
The 61-63 cars are completely different from the 64-72 cars. For one thing, they're unibody as opposed to body-on-frame. The 215 uses a unique motor mounting and bellhousing design.
It's certainly POSSIBLE to fit a 330 (or any SBO - or BBO for that matter). Pontiac offered the 326 in the 1963 Tempest, so the SBO will likely fit. It will NOT be a bolt-in, however. You'll need to fabricate pretty much everything.

Standard was the "half 389" inline 4, which shared mounts with the optional 326. Made the 389/421 a bolt in, so the GTO could have easily happened a year earlier.
F-85/Cutlass/Jetfire and Special/Skylark front clips can be easily unbolted, and interchanged. If they are the same as Tempest/Lemans, it would make the conversion easier. Increased torque of the 330 might call for a sturdier drivetrain. Wimpy brakes would also need to be addressed.
