1978 Toronado Radiator
#2
If your tanks are good see if a radiator shop can find you a core and have your original recored.
If not, the latest Toronado Owners Association www.toronado.org magazine addressed this for the 71-73. A member had found that a readily available 1990-2001 GM truck radiator was a drop-in replacement for those. My guess is 74-78 are similar if not identical.
Measure your existing radiator width, height and core thickness and compare it to an available radiator to be sure. Also look at diameter of hose connections and location of trans cooler lines. If your Toronado has a low coolant level probe you may not find a new radiator with provision for that.
Hope this helps you.

The good thing about a parts store cheapie is that they usually have a lifetime warranty. I replaced the radiators in my 71 and 96 Olds; as well as, in my 86 Ford truck with parts store units. Having the OE original repaired would be your only option if you're doing a concours restoration.

Angela, I know it's been awhile since you started this thread, but I'm wondering if you ever found a radiator your car. I have both a '77 and a '78 Toronado, and I might be able to help you about an equivalent replacement for your radiator. As you have discovered, radiators for these cars, and in fact for any second-generation Toronado ('71 through '78) are not available new. If yours can be refurbished, great, buy my experience is usually that the radiator shop will tell me that the original radiator is too far gone to be resurrected.
