Manual antenna replacement

I just have the external antenna base with the threads, need to find an antenna that will screw on. Will any aftermarket antenna work? Anyone done this on a 66 Toronado?

It might just need a gasket and correct chrome base and metal nut to hold the base to the fender, and then an Olds antenna that slips into the base and a black plastic nut to hold it firmly down. Try that.

Where can I get the antenna from? Is it the same as the one on a Cutlass etc?

The Cutlass profile is different from a Toronado and the tip is different, but they should be interchangeable.

Can anyone post a pic of the correct antenna mast, especially the threaded part?

Getting back to this thread,

I think I found the remains of the original antenna. I tried to put it in the base but it seems to be too tight to fit all the way in. Is it normal to be a very tight fit to get the mast into the base, or should it go in smoothly and then be held on with the black plastic nut?

Some websites show it as a "press fit", how would you put the mast in that way? Do you have to hammer it in or something?

Don't do anything to damage the antenna. Directions for install should be in the Chassis or Factory Service Manual.

If you aren't doing a concours restoration I suggest getting an aftermarket antenna. You might consider this company:
