t-5 swap

Has anyone swapped a mustang T-5 into your Olds? I have an 86 T-5 that I am planning to rebuild with a 2:90 1st gear. I have built all of the adapters necessary to mate it to the bellhousing. Any info good or bad will help.

Keep in mind that the only engine that Olds ever deemed weak enough to not frag the T5 was the pavement-ripping 260. That trans was marginal behind a 305 Chevy or 302 Ford.

I recall hearing the same thing. Friends of mine that build Ford cars rarely speak highly of the T-5.

The cool thing is that the conversion is not too invasive and should the thing implode on me, swapping back to the Muncie would be a Saturday afternoon event. I sold my Type O posi for $1200.00, planing on installing a Mosier 9" rear end, I understand that these are bullet proof. I am thinking 3.30 series gears, with a 2.90 1st and an overdrive this thing should be a blast around town and on the highways.
