Smile Started on the tredel vac

Today, we started on the treadle-vac on the 55, I was the supervisor, sort of, Juan was the guy underneath the car doing all the work and his buddy was the interpreter. Juan would ask for a 10 mil. And I would correct his buddy who was looking for a 10 mm that it wasn't but a 7/16 and he would look puzzled as to what size was 7/16. Kinda reminds me of the first time I worked on a metric car.

Took longer than it should, but we had fun and it finally came out, smiles on everyone's face. Now to clean it up and find someone who will rebuild it. Glenn gave me an address, but of course I lost it, so Glenn if you read this and still have that address I could use it. The boys will put it back in when it gets sent back. It will be nice to have a real show car again.... Tedd

I cleaned up my booster and mailed it today. Sally of Karps was very helpful on what to say on how I wanted it finished. Done deal. Quick, easy and pleasant. While I'm at it I think I'll order new hoses...Tedd

Glenn, the booster came out the bottom (outside the firewall, not out the inside floor board. Maybe they are different on 55 than 54's or most likely I just misunderstood...Tedd

Did you read the shop manual. I pulled the plate in the floor that the booster was attached to and the plate and booster all came out together. I imagine you could take it out from the bottom side. You will be real happy with the job Karp's does.

Called Karp's yesterday, mostly to see if they received my booster. Had another pleasant talk with Sally and she let me know I was in line to get it repaired, and should she put it on the to be rushed list if I needed it sooner. It's snowing so quick is not what I need right now....Tedd

Well Tedd, they are great over there. When Jeff rebuilt my treadle vac for my 57, he was great to talk to. I'm sure you will be happy as I am with the results.
