I was looking for 442 grills because I like the black inside with silver surround look but they are quite expensive. My cast iron grills are in great shape. Decided to do some photoshopping and turn them black. I liked how it looked and decided as a temporary measure to try Plasti Dip. Apparently it can come off without damaging or leaving a stain. Many YouTubers and auto enthusiasts use this as a temporary coating. I decided to give it a try. Impressed with the results. I thought id share my results:

I don’t like it, I think it takes away the whole design of how it was intended by the designers. I do like the chrome mirrors instead of the more common sport mirrors. Is that color Bittersweet? Very nice looking 71!

Nice looking car but I never heard of cast iron grills. I have never seen anything but plastic.

The 71 Supreme grilles are metal, but they are a cast pot metal and not cast iron (that would be way heavy and rust prone).

I have had two 72 Cutlass Supremes and they both had plastic grills. Interesting.

It’s surprising the 1971 Cutlass Supreme is the only year Cutlass that had a metal grill.
