Has anyone done a Scarebird front disc brake conversion on the 1961-63 Y bodies?

Wondering how the recommended 78-80 Fairmont master cylinder fits and in general how it worked out.

ive never used one of his kits but have seen threads on people using them. they seem to be good and in the future may use it for disk swap on my 62 f85 wagon. I checked that out and looks good. I'm going to keep the drum rears and the Fairmont is set up for that. The Fairmont MC is about 7.25 long mounting face to end of nose. Can you take a look when you have time and let me know how long the S10 MC is and is it a Disc/Disc or Drum rear/Disc front MC?

the s10 i got it off of was front disk rear drum im pretty sure. s10 went to rear disk in 98 so a 97 or older master should be rear drum if thats what you want. the car is in storage no but if i get by there ill try to remember to measure it.

the s10 was approx. 6" from firewall to the other end.

I was thinking about the stated approx length of the Fairmont mc. The s10 mc was already a tight fit even after cutting. Any actually use a Fairmont mc on the 61-63 f85?

Thanks for the info. This could help a lot. I spent some time yesterday starting to fit the Farimont MC. First thing is the mounting holes are 3.25" on C and the stock MC/ fireall bolts are 3.375" on C, so I need to file out the holes a little to really find out if it will fit. Looks VERY close and I do not want to cut into the channel of the frame. If the S10 is about 6 or even 6.75 it would help a lot. Also thinking since it's a GM MC mounting holes might be right. I gotta take a look at one. I'll let you know.

as far as bolting on, it was an exact fit. and its a gm product on your gm, dont know if that means anything to you.

Yes it does and it looks great. Was just talking to Marty at Dorman Tech (very helpful guy), it's less bulky than the Fairmont and according to Dorman is about 6.75" will will make the difference in fit to the frame box and the strut coming over. Appreciate the help, thanks!
