Drive shaft

Can you powder coat a drive shaft with out affecting the balance?

Not unless it has the rubber damper.

I think you meant "not IF it has the rubber damper". The head from the powder coat oven will likely damage the rubber.

. . .as well as the rubber seals of the universal joints, and cause grease to leak out. If you change the joints, it is a good idea to re-balance the shaft.

I assumed you'd remove the u-joints, since powdercoating requires sandblasting the part first.
