Nice job fabbing up that piece.

iirc scrappie removed that entire top part in his resto thread if you want to get a look at how it is under that panel

Got the inner patch installed still a bunch of pinholes I keep blowing through some of holes making them worse.
went back with a copper backing got the large holes filled not sure if it's worth trying to patch those little holes.. I made a bunch of little holes into large ones.

Back to working on the cowl.
Patched a few pinholes primed it up with weldable primer, and got the outer patch close to ready to weld in place.

The patch is in, a little more tweaking and grinding but could be worse.

Decided to take a shot at filling some holes on the windshield frame.
A lot of patience and grinding I managed to fill a couple holes

Found a better way, make a little patch, shape and hold it with a coat hanger

Getting ready for the next one

Got a few more patches in, with all this practice my horrible welds are slowly ...(very slowly) getting better.
Plenty more to practice on

I wasn't aware just the top windshield header was available and wouldn't that be very difficult to get it aligned perfectly?

The last patch on the cowl is done, well at least up top.

the tipping wheel makes it easy to do curved bends.

Looks good.. The welding is coming along.. The other day I tried a change on the settings on the mig. I turned the heat down and slowed the wire feed down.. I was shocked at how nicely the weld came out. I was actually able to control the puddle better that way. Give it a try and see what happens..
I hope it helps!

Started patching the wheel wells.

Started with a big patch making it easier to form

ended up with just a small portion of the original patch

I left the edge of cut piece attached to help with aligning the contour of the patch

welded the inside edge

Filled a couple holes on the other side

Started fitting the back seat floor patch.
Going to try and slip it under the spot welds.
Tips anyone?

We managed to get the patch tucked between the brace and the old floor and peeled back the side.
Not sure if that's the right way but should be a lot stronger than a butt weld. (Is this overkill?)

Got an hour to sneak out to the garage more welds on the floor pan.
Got an 80 cf tank so I don't run out every time I turn around.
Turned up the gas flow a bit and I think my welds are finally coming around.

I figured I'd check the other mount while I had everything setup.

It looked good but after deeper examination, it was actually worse than the other side.

Waiting for the 18 gauge I moved on to repairing the floor brace.

Going to wait for the nice weather tomorrow so I can open the doors and put a fan on while welding the galvanized area

The quarter patch has many contours and was tricky but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
Needs a little fine-tuning but getting there.

WOW, you are doing a lot of amazing work. I would suggest playing with the amperage and wire speed. It should run a nice continuous bead, sounding like bacon crackling. It looks like it's sputtering, either a little less wire speed or a bit more amperage. I'm happy to see you found this car to work on, the rust bucket would have been a crazy amount of work. Looking forward to seeing your progress!!!

Thanks for the kind words. I can always use tips... especially on welding.
I still have old red and acquired almost everything I need to make two.
This one is turning out to be a 1000 piece puzzle, the other might be easier by replacing a small number of large pieces vs all the small pieces as I am doing with this one
