Roto 5 TV Adjustment

My 62 Cutlass has the 4 bbl with the ROTO 5. I realize proper adjustments of the TV rod is very important for proper shifting and long life. And now that I have finally got it running, it shifts poorly. I have the 61 repair manual with the 62 supplement. Trying to follow the TV adjustment procedures from the book but it is appearing to be for a 2 bbl. The schematic of the linkage looks different. The 62 supplement has no info at all on the 4 bbl. I have the adjustment tools for the ROTO 10, that i used on a 64 Dynamic 88, with pretty good success, but of course they are different. I got the measurements to make the tool for the ROTO 5. But trying to get the .020-.040 measurement between the upper bellcrank and the manifold stop is not making much sense. I may have interpreted that wrong but it is in one of the steps.
Anyone have the adjustment procedures for a 4 bbl? Should I get the 63 manual, will that include 4 bbl information?
Thank you,
Stephen

I never could get my 63 adjusted correctly after a rebuild, nor could any shop I went to after that. What problem in the shifting sequence are you having? If it is the first to second shift this is the most common and it feels as though the transmission has skipped a gear. Maybe someone here can help but I'm sorry I can't... Tedd

Have you seen these threads? Making that TV adjustment is critical.

Thank you both for your replies. I did get the 63 manual, still very vague. I ended up following Joe's advice and started experimenting with short drives and making the adjustment until I got the smoothest shift. It turned out pretty well and when the engine is warmed up and run a while the shift gets even smoother. So I am leaving it.
Now just need to fix the leaks.
Thanks again.
