1964 Super 88 trans swap with 1960 88 trans
When I got my car the trans was in pieces in the trunk... I picked up another trans yesterday but it's from a 1960 Olds 88... Its obviously shorter and I'm not sure what model trans.... It came mounted to a 371 w/ a 2 bbl carb so i assume it will bolt to my 394 in the 64. I stole this pic from another "help me ID" thread but it looks to be the same trans...
What model is this?
Is this a bolt on replacement?
What shift pattern does it have?
Will I need to modify my column shift?
It looks to have a bolt on yoke?
Is that a real torque converter?
Is the starter the same from 1960 to 1964?
Is the lower bell housing the same?
I will clean up the actual trans and see if there is an ID tag but it does like like the one above. I hope I can just swap it in and get the car running and driving again....

64 uses Roto HydraMatic or "Slim Jim". 60 uses the 4-speed Jetaway Hydramatic. Jetaway is a better transmission and will bolt to your 1964 engine but may not fit in a 64 car without modifying the transmission tunnel. Shift pattern is the same, but Jetaway has a fluid coupling same as a SJ.
There's a couple folks on here who are very good with HydraMatics and interchange. Hopefully they'll see this thread and give you more info than I've been able to.
