1979 Trans issue

I bought a 79 cutlass engines bad was told the trans stopped to fluid dint smell bad but upon pulling everything apart I found 2 of the torque converter bolts fell out n the last one broken anyone run into this before was ur tranny trashed

I moved your question to it's own thread, since it had nothing to do with the thread you posted on. Your car doesn't even have a 200-4R (at least it didn't from the factory). Loose converter to flywheel bolts won't trash the trans unless the converter is so loose that it is wobbling and messed up the bushing and seal in the pump. The significant vibration would likely have tipped you off before that.

If it turns out the Trans is kaput, (assuming you have the Metric TH200 trans), you might want to consider replacing it with a TH350 instead (?).

I would bet a cold beer both the engine and trans are fine. Loose converter bolts can make an awful rapping sound, especially if they are hitting some casting on the block. Even the loose bolts will be loud. I'd remove that last bolt and try to run the engine. There's a real solid chance that noise fooled the previous owner into thinking the engine is shot.
