th400-- measuring play on input and output shafts

A rudimentary but post stoneage method of measuring the input/ouput play on shafts.
Not having a stand and dial indicator, I made a '5 minute frame' for the output shaft and measured with calipers --worked well
Similarly the front method worked well but a piece of angle iron, instead of a piece timber would be more appropriate.

Sometimes you can "rent" a dial indicator from the local auto parts store. Of course, it could have been dropped a million times.

That is a very different but good idea. I did mine with vise grips and feeler gauges.
