Extended wheel studs.

I just got some craiger rims and my studs are not long enough. It is just about an inch shy, if that much. Is there a certain length I should ask for and is there a maximum length? Going on my 72 cutty.

Sounds like you have the cragar/weld superlite II wheels or something thats the same for the added the strength the longer wheel studs are required examples can be found here http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performan...ductId=1224592 they can also be found at your local speed shop. They are required if you plan on running the car at the dragstrip if only for fun, They are supposed to check the car and it is a safety issue. When i went to the superlite II wheels i had to put in these because the spacer in the middle of the wheel made the studs about a inch to short .

unless you are racing you don't need longer studs. You just need the correct long shank lug nuts. I think they are 1 7/8" shank if you remember right. Verifie that though. They are known as SST lugs

Thanks. Id like to do the studs anyway. But question on the shank lug nuts. These lug nuts fit through the rims to reach the studs?

With the proper lug nuts they fit into the rim as in the pic attached.

If you do the studs you will need open end lug nuts as longer studs will protrude past the end of the lug nut as in the second pic.

The proper wheel nuts are all you need. With a pic of the wheels the guess work is out of trying to figure out the shank length.
