olds 10 to 12 bolt differential swap
Probably covered in a prior post I have a 1971 vista cruiser with 256 rear end and a 1970 vista cruiser with a 308. Can they be swapped directly with no modification to the drive shaft or other parts. You need to know that the 71 has a t5 5 speed stick conversion and the drive shaft may have been modified, not sure. Thanks

The driveshaft length will need to be addressed. Why? The 12-bolt O-axle has a shorter pinion snout, therefore,it needs a longer driveshaft to reach it,compared to the 8.5" 10-bolt.Chances are,the T5 set-up need a special length driveshaft,so I don't think you can simply swap the shafts between the 2 cars, but it's worth a try.

Bummer, but exactly the answer I needed. I will measure each driveshaft and check how the u joint connects too. The driveshaft for the t5 looks modified to me. Also look how nice the bottom of a California car looks even after years outside. Thanks
