Non Adjustable valve train setup

Non Adjustable valve train setup
I've killing some time waiting for a rear end setup to find it's way to my garage.
I'm setting up the valve train on an Olds 350,new cam, lifters, and rocker arms.
Am I supposed to soak the lifters in oil?
Pressurize the oil system with a pre oiler?
The valve train looks extremely loose.

Thanks.
unfortunately I already installed the intake.
I'm going to try adding oil through the push rods and see if I can get some oil in the lifters.
Anyone know the torque settings for the trunnions?
Thanks.

I have never tryed to fill my lifters with oil before installing them, Olds or Chevy. I do allway prime the oil system, and never had a problem. Some times it takes a long time to prime, especially the BB Chevy.

I bought the shaft to pre oil the engine for my Pontiac engine build.
Will it also fit Chevy and Olds?
I haven't tried to prime the system yet, still working on mounting the ignition system, fuel etc.
I just know the valve train is extremely loose.
The oil keeps the push rods against the rocker arms?
The rocker arms are held down by the trunnions, but seems to be a lot of space in the center opening in the rocker arm.

You can prime with a 3/8" six point socket on an extension. Either get a cheap extension and cut it off so it fits in your drill, or use a drill with 1/2" chuck capacity. Tape over the extension to socket connection as insurance you don't drop the socket in the engine. Olds turns the Dist COUNTER CLOCKWISE so turn your priming tool the same...drill running in REVERSE. once oil is pressurized in the lifters you can check the Lifter Pre-load. I am thinking the aftermarket cam and other factors are stacking up to cause the loose valve adjustment you have now. You may need longer pushrods to compensate. Also torque on the Rocker Arm hold downs is 25 Ft/lb.
Hope this helps

The cam is just under.500 lift, hopefully won't need custom push rods.
I'm sure it's just the fact that the lifters are dry.
Thanks for the help.
It will be a few days before I get going again.
Sister is getting married Saturday, and need clean hands for the day.
Hurts having all these parts available, and trying to stay out of the garage.
